Water means everything to us. A little over 2/3 of the Earth is covered by water. The exact percentage of water on Earth is 71.11%(http://www.water-pollution.org.uk) . There are many different kinds of water on our planet such as seas, lakes, rivers, oceans, lagoons, and groundwater. Unfortunately humans pollute the main source that our life depends on. All water pollution affects organisms and plants that live in these kinds of water. When humans pollute the water, they don't think that this pollution will harm them by eating the affected organisms! Water pollution may not damage our health immediately but can harm after long term exposure.

There are many causes for water pollution. The causes are sewage and wastewater, marine dumping, industrial waste, radioactive waste, oil pollution, underground storage leakages, atmospheric deposition and global warming. This paragraph concentrates only on one cause of water pollution which is the industrial waste.
Industry is a huge source of water pollution; it produces pollutants that are extremely harmful to people and the environment. Many industrial facilities throw different industrial waste into water.

Pollutants from industrial sources include:

1. Asbestos – This pollutant is a serious health hazard and carcinogenic. Asbestos fibers can be inhaled and cause illnesses such as asbestosis, lung cancer, intestinal cancer and liver cancer.

2. Lead – This is a metallic element and can cause health and environmental problems. It is a non-biodegradable substance so is hard to clean up once the environment is contaminated (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_waste). Lead is harmful to the health of many animals, including humans, as it can inhibit the action of bodily enzymes.

3. Mercury - This is a metallic element and can cause health and environmental problems. It is a non-biodegradable substance so is hard to clean up once the environment is contaminated. Mercury is also harmful to animal health as it can cause illness through mercury poisoning.

4. Nitrates – The increased use of fertilisers means that nitrates are more often being washed from the soil and into rivers and lakes (www.accessscience.com.library.hct.ac.ae). This can cause eutrophication, which can be very problematic to marine environments.

5. Phosphates - The increased use of fertilisers means that phosphates are more often being washed from the soil and into rivers and lakes. This can cause eutrophication, which can be very problematic to marine environments.

6. Sulphur – This is a non-metallic substance that is harmful for marine life.

7. Oils – Oil does not dissolve in water; instead it forms a thick layer on the water surface. This can stop marine plants receiving enough light for photosynthesis. It is also harmful for fish and marine birds.

8.Petrochemicals – This is formed from gas or petrol and can be toxic to marine life.

Additionally to these pollutants the smoke that comes out from the smokestacks has bad effects on the atmosphere. This leads into acid rainfall which harms the health of marine life in the rivers and lakes it pollutes, and can result in mortality.
In conclusion humans need to prevent water pollution by following some ways. The industries must be watched by the government. If any industry throws any harmful chemical materials or industrial wastes into water, the industry must be punished. Before throwing any harmful industrial wastes the industry have to be treated correctly. In order to reduce the amount of polluted water that needs treatment people have to use the running water only if needed.

THE PROJECT

The innovation which has transformed my professional life in recent years is the computer. At the HCT we have many things to do every day until we will finish our course. Every day we use the computer at our college to do many useful things like uploading our home work, searching for information, chatting with people around the world, online study, using the dictionary and many others. In the past people didn’t have computers so it was hard for them to study. Before they used the paper to do their home work and research; they also used the books to get some information. In fact all the things were the same all around the world. When first I visited East Asia I start searching for a computer shop but I couldn’t find it in the street. I asked one man for a computer shop and he told me” you will find it in the shopping mall only”. I realized that they still use pen and paper to do their home work and stuff. Although the students when they want to use the computer for their project, have to read some books and search for the information because it’s expensive to use the computer for one hour only ( 5 dh ) and there many poor people who can’t pay for this amount of money. The History of Computers is very old. In 1937 Alan Turing's Turing machine pioneered the idea of machines that could complete well-defined tasks by being supplied with programs (http://www.buzzle.com ) . In 1948 the Manchester Baby became the first stored program computer. In 1955 MIT built the first real-time processing machine. In 1956, IBM created the disk memory system. When first the computer came it was very big and huge and, it needed a big room. The first use of the word "computer" was recorded in 1613 (http://www.buzzle.com/), referring to a person who carried out calculations, or computations, and the word continued to be used in that sense until the middle of the 20th century. From the end of the 19th century onwards though, the word began to take on its more familiar meaning, describing a machine that carries out computations (http://en.wikipedia.org ).

Today the computer has become a household item .The first modern day computer was developed in the mid-20th century, though the concept of a computer and various similar machines existed before. Now in the ADMC you can see in each class room there is a computer for the teacher. The teacher can use the computer to teach us by the easy way. Almost every student in the ADMC has a laptop. This big change has helped all people around the world to be comfortable and relaxed. Computers also help the business men to be connected with the world stock market. Although there are some places in the world with no computers, still people like to have bought their own computer. You can see that the computer is important in the life and it connects people around the world. The invention of the computer has changed our life completely. People don’t want to go outside the home because of the computer; even small children want to have their own computer to play some games online.

Bgatti vs Porsche 911 Turbo

Introductory.

Nowadays there are many new cars in the world that work with gas or petrol. There are also cars that work with electricity. Many people like to have a sport car that has a nice view and full option. There are many sport cars. Some of them are good and others are bad. In this essay I am going to write about the similarities and differences between the Bugatti and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

The similarities

There are only a few similarities between the Bugatti and the Porsche 911 Turbo. The first similarity is they are both sport cars. Second both of them are popular. Many people like to have these two cars because they are so beautiful and have a nice look.

The Differences.

There are many differences between the Bugatti and the Porsche 911 Turbo. First the price. The Bugatti is more expensive than the Porsche 911 Turbo. It costs $1.6 M but the Porsche 991 Turbo costs between $137,360- 140,780 ( http://www.bugatti.com/). Second the top speed. The Bugatti is faster than the Porsche 911 Turbo by 61 mph only (http://www.porsche-design.com/). After that the speed from 0-60 mph. Then the horse power. The Bugatti is 1001 HP horse power but Porsche is 480 Hp only that’s mean the Bugatti is better. There is also the torque. The Bugatti is 952 IB-FT, but the Porsche 911 Turbo is 457 pound feet only. Finally the weight. The Bugatti is 5000 Ib but the Porsche 911 Turbo is from 3650-3750 lb (http://paultan.org/2006/07/05/2009-porsche-gt1.)

My Opinion

My opinion is if I have money to buy a sport car I will choose to buy the Porsche 911 Turbo because the Porsche is not expensive and you can drive it in the city very easily but the Bugatti is expensive and it’s hard to drive it in the city.

THE HISTORY OF CARS

~ The history of cars ~

Along time ago, the cars were not important, because people used to use animals to travel from one place to another. However there was no pollution like now. Nowadays people use cars to go from one place to another. The first car was small could only one person use it and it was slow although it was safe because no one can drive it fast. When the car was just made they were so expensive, so not a lot of people could buy them. After many years humans tried to introduce a car that everyone could use it. Nowadays we can see many types of cars small, big, sport and a lot more. Because of that some cars are cheap and some others are expensive. I’ll talk about the sport cars. The sport cars have a long history. When the first sports cars were made they were made for rally races or other kinds of races. These days, people use the sport cars for everything, for traveling, in the city, races. Most of the sport cars haven’t got a comfortable back seat, because they are small. Every year they try to solve the problems in the sport cars, and introduce new sport cars. And you can see all that in Geneva.

THE NATURAL WATER
The whole article is about how to protect the natural spring of Hajar Mountains, Wadi Wurayah has a natural spring. The water is falling from the mountain and it’s a nice view of the UAE and especially of Fujairah. Wadi Wurayah and its waterfall from the mountain is something rare here in the UAE. This place is one of the most beautiful places in the UAE. Wadi Wurayah is home for some birds and some other animals too. It’s also famous now because many people are talking about it every time. It’s a nice place where you can camp with your friends and family. Many of the tourists when they visit the UAE go and visit this natural view. This area needs to be protected by the Ministry of the Environment. The water in this place is fresh and the company of Masafi is taking bottled water from there. The government is drawing up a plan right now to protect this place from the pollution.

MAIN IDEA

The main idea is we have to protect this place by many ways. My way is if we go to camp in this place we have to throw the garbage in plastic wastebins.

COMMENT

Its a nice article. When I read this article I learnt new information that I didn't know before like the fresh water fish and its home for 100 species of mammals. I love it really. I have learnt that we should help each other to protect the important places here in the UAE or anywhere in the world. Because if we don't do that they will disappear.

FAST FOOD

Now a day’s people try to learn new things about how to make a business with little money and high income. They try to do many things such as open saloons, supermarkets, laundries and many other things. But all of this is a good business. I am talking about the food business. The idea comes when somebody wants to open a fast-food restaurant he doesn’t know how his business can affect the people. When there is a new fast-food restaurant there are many people who want to go and just eat there. They don’t know how this food can affect their body, especially if they are fat. All of the junk food is not ok for the body if you eat too much of it and you don’t do some sport. Most of the fast food is useless for the body. This fast food can affect mostly the children because they like it.
